Thanks for stopping by. My name is Colin Mansfield, and I manage and run Real. Simple. Social Media. Social media has been a passion of mine for some time now, especially when it comes to teaching and helping others out with the basics.
I was born in Boise, Idaho and lived there until 2010. I attended college at West Point in New York, and I graduated in May 2014 with a degree in Political Science. I now live in El Paso, Texas where I get to enjoy some of the best Mexican food this side of the border.
As for a resume, I have found myself in a variety of leadership roles where I have built social media campaigns from the ground up. Below are the highlights of my credentials.
- In the Spring of 2010 I managed the social media for candidate, now US Congressman, Raul Labrador. This included his high-profile Facebook page, Twitter account, YouTube channel, and blog. One video that I edited and posted was featured on Idaho news affiliates and went viral.
- From 2011-2012 I was the social media manager for the Domestic Affairs Forum – West Point’s politics club. This included running the Facebook page and ensuring all pictures and events were properly scheduled.
- In 2013 and 2014 I was the social media manager and public affairs specialist for two consecutive years with the Student Conference on US Affairs (SCUSA), an annual politics/current affairs conference held by West Point. Our work was featured on the Huffington Post and a variety of college newspapers across the country. The conferences brought in hundreds of students from around the world, and I was in charge of responding to inquiries, managing the Facebook group, managing the Twitter page, managing the LinkedIn group, directing a team of photographers, and creating a final conference slideshow.
- Since 2009 I have been the owner and operator of BoiseCoffee.org. I have written reviews on coffee, coffee shops, roasteries, and cafes from all corners of the world. I am a respected member of a group of coffee bloggers with similar websites, and I run a variety of social media outlets to supplement my articles. I have been featured in magazines, online articles, and I am currently working on a book titled The Beginners Guide to Specialty Coffee. You can find out more about the book here.
I created Real. Simple. Social Media. because I am passionate about people and the way we communicate in today’s globalized community. My hope is that I can give you a base to work from, and that I can teach you the skills that have worked for me in my endeavors over the years. I can’t guarantee you millions of followers or fame and fortune, but I can promise you that you will have the best possible resources to create a network and community for your business, hobby, or personal satisfaction. The key is to keep it simple.
